![]() ![]() In later interviews with Spiegelman, he makes this point very clear. There was no secret motive or take away lesson hidden in the pages of Maus. He just wanted to write the story how it was. I mean, I wasn’t trying to convince anybody of anything. In one panel, he writes himself saying, “I never thought of reducing it to a message. On pages 201 and 202 of The Complete Maus, Spiegelman depicts his own struggle and anxiety in dealing with the sudden onset of popularity, contracts, and interviews. Utilizing the meta-narrative technique enables Spiegelman to illustrate the full effects that the story had on both his and Vladek’s lives. Spiegelman chooses to write the story in the first place to simply tell the story. By doing this, he allows the experiences to be taken into a more realistic viewpoint, as well as brings a present day consciousness to the story. Spiegelman chooses the meta-narrative approach to tell the story as it truly encompassed every part of his and his father’s lives. This interesting technique offers a dual first-person point of view: one from Vladek’s perspective of his sufferings during the Holocaust, and one from Spiegelman receiving the story as a Holocaust survivor’s son. It is told within the perspective of Spiegelman’s own life, listening to his father’s first-hand account. The story is brazenly written in comic form, but is especially unique because Spiegelman produces his father Vladek’s experiences of the Holocaust through a meta-narrative approach. It boomed in popularity and is still studied today because of the distinct way the story is presented. Maus first began appearing in RAW magazine in 1980 and continued until 1991. However, Art Spiegelman’s The Complete Maus is a unique addition to the collection. Incidentally, the fact that this incident took place a few days after the actor ate at Asha’s Birmingham, singer Asha Bhonsle’s signature restaurant in that city, has nothing to do with each other.Since World War II and the gruesome Holocaust, there have been hundreds of accounts of the atrocities committed against the Jews. In other words, a large dash of Fast and Furious, that other superhit film series on car thefts, fast driving and furious racing, has also been added to Cruise’s meta-narrative. Reportedly, a scanner was used to clone the signal from the BMW X7’s keyless ignition fob. Along with the vehicle, luggage ‘worth thousands of dollars’ has been knicked. Because the heist took place on the sets of the film - that is, in, what movies call, ‘real life’.Ĭruise got skimmed when his car, a BMW, was stolen from outside a hotel in Birmingham, Britain, while the actor was shooting for the film. So, one would have thought that he’d be dope with a heist being mixed with the usual ‘dangerous operative’ trope of the Mission Impossible films in the franchise’s upcoming No. One man who epitomises the many genres of the action film is Tom Cruise. It’s put bank robbery, flesh-munching undead and army renegades all in one blender to bring a mug of adrenaline-bubbling cocktail. Take the 2021 Zack Snyder-directed zombie heist film, Army of the Dead. Nothing beats an action movie that mixes multiple genres in one film. ![]()
